In the beginning of April, a small kitten with misshapen front legs and bear-like ears was brought to Friends for Life Rescue Network in Los Angeles, California, in search of a loving forever home.
“Its legs were bent because of tight ligaments and tendons in its front wrists from birth.”
Mel Lamprey and her partner Zane are dedicated shelter volunteers who have been focusing their efforts on caring for a lovable cat they’ve lovingly named ‘Quill.’ This furry feline is a hug enthusiast who wasted no time in capturing the hearts of her foster caregivers.
In order to treat his legs, Quill started undergoing physical therapy several times each day. Jacqueline explained that the process involves applying a heating pad to the wrists, followed by massaging and stretching the tendons and ligaments to help properly align the growing bones.
Quill will be receiving weekly splints to help improve her range of motion. She shows exceptional bravery in dealing with these challenges and doesn’t seem to see herself as any less capable than others.
Upon meeting the young girl, Chester wasted no time in taking care of her. Displaying the qualities of a caring older sibling, he made sure she was always clean and well-groomed, anticipating and meeting all her needs.
Mel added, “He came up to her and took a seat next to her, behaving as though they were lifelong buddies.”
The little bundle of fluff loves to hang out on Zane’s neck, which is definitely her preferred spot. Just like any typical kitten, she enjoys playing and exploring every now and then. Mel affectionately refers to her as “daddy’s pampered princess”:
“She’s silly, curious, sweet, and a total daddy’s girl. Her tiny fingers are always wrapped around him.”
